A native of Lakeville, Massachusetts, Nicole began her golf career at the age of four and rose through the ranks of junior, state and national amateur golf before playing on the Wake Forest University Women's Golf Team (1990-1994). She has won titles and participated in events such as:
Nicole's undergraduate Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology at Wake Forest University led her to the University of Tennessee at Knoxville, where she completed her Master of Science degree in Sport Psychology in 1995. Her thesis, Mental Skills Interventions for Young Golfers: Two Case Studies, was the basis for presentations at scientific conferences in New Orleans, Northern Ireland and at the University of St. Andrews in Scotland. Nicole has appeared on various television and radio segments and enjoys donating her time to golf instruction at various charity and local golf programs. She volunteered as President & Site Director to LPGA*USGA Girls Golf of Knoxville and also trained as a black belt in Isshinryu-style Karate to strengthen her golf game both physically and mentally. Nicole's overall teaching commitment is to provide dedicated and understandable instruction in a comfortable learning environment to all levels of golfers, especially newcomers to the game. Her lessons focus on the student's specific goals, whether developing a golfer's entire game for a better overall experience and lower scores or detailing one specific area. Since ball flight is pre-determined by set-up fundamentals, Nicole will observe, discuss and demonstrate various pre-swing ingredients that can assist a student with better achieving his/her vision of an effective ball flight. Options to changing a swing path or merely managing set-up or course strategy to accommodate an ingrained ball flight will be discussed. Both the student and Nicole will agree on the plan of action before proceeding to make any changes or practice and suggestions. Students needing to learn golf for work-related outings or to spend more time with their families can find very suitable programs to fit their needs. Nicole works with a student's learning style and provides feedback through visual (demonstration, computerized video software), auditory (explanations) and kinesthetic (club manipulation, teaching aids) avenues. Her background also allows her to train the mental aspect of the game, as well as appropriate and effective practice habits for all levels of golfers - she teaches a popular 'Train Your Brain' class and works closely with the Mental Golf Profile developed by Bobby Foster. Nicole currently instructs women, men, girls and boys of all ability level and begins juniors at the age of four. Nicole's teaching also evolves around the Titleist Performance Institute golf fitness concepts. The first tool of the game is one's self (physical body) and the second tool the golf equipment. Understanding how one's body works or doesn't work contributes greatly to what kind of motions and swings can be produced. A limitation, whether realized or not, creates a certain way of moving. Motor patterns develop around physical limitations. Nicole can screen students and help them become more aware of swing potential or hazards based on fitness results. From both a personal and instructor perspective, this program works! Nicole is Head Teaching Professional at The Landings Club in Savannah, Georgia... |
